Step back in time at Château Toulouse, a beautifully restored Renaissance-style castle from 1880. Once a thriving centre of tobacco farming, the château has been thoughtfully renovated, blending its historic charm with modern comforts. From its grand architecture to its unique features, Château Toulouse promises an unforgettable stay.

One of the standout highlights is the 20-metre private pool, perfect for sunny afternoons surrounded by serene countryside views. In the evenings, gather for a magical experience at the quirky outdoor cinema in the château’s former tobacco-drying shed, where the original ropes once used to dry tobacco still hang from the roof. For indoor entertainment, the elegant billiard room offers a cosy retreat filled with timeless sophistication. Create mouthwatering wood-fired pizzas in the historic stone oven — the caretaker can help if you’re not confident using the oven or making the perfect fluffy base.

The château features 10 beautifully appointed bedrooms designed to combine comfort and character. For larger groups or added privacy, the nearby Pigeonnier — a charmingly renovated pigeon tower — offers three additional bedrooms, a rustic-style kitchen and a cosy living room. This separate apartment adds flexibility while keeping a warm, intimate atmosphere.

Whether exploring the château’s storied past or relaxing in its peaceful surroundings, Château Toulouse is a destination that perfectly marries history, elegance and comfort.

This idyllic location offers a true escape into the heart of rural France, where life moves at a slower, more peaceful pace.

Just 2 km away lies Castelsagrat, a charming little village perfect for a leisurely stroll. As you wander its quiet streets, you can pick up warm, flaky pastries from the local bakery, stock up on essentials at the quaint tabac/minimarket, or take care of small errands with stops at the hairdresser and post office.

Don’t miss the Restaurant Du Siècle, a lovely and straightforward eatery where you can enjoy a delicious 4-course lunch menu for under 20 euros. Their cassoulet, a hearty regional dish, is a must-try and offers a taste of authentic French cuisine. The simplicity and charm of village life here make exploring it a joy.

For another picturesque walk, head to Montjoi, perched on a hill with breathtaking views over the lush valley below. This hidden gem is more than just a scenic lookout—it’s home to a local art gallery showcasing creative works and a delightful restaurant where you can indulge in a meal while soaking in the atmosphere of this historic hamlet. The walk is an experience, offering a chance to reconnect with nature, enjoy the countryside air, and marvel at the unspoiled landscapes surrounding you. Whether you’re strolling through Castelsagrat or Montjoi, each village offers a unique slice of Southern France’s timeless charm.

A bit further afield, Moissac and the must-see medieval hilltop village of Lauzerte are both only 20 km away, making them ideal for easy and memorable day trips.

Moissac, renowned for its stunning Abbaye Saint-Pierre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a treasure trove of Romanesque architecture. Explore the intricate cloisters, stroll along the Canal des Deux Mers, or enjoy the bustling atmosphere of the local markets brimming with fresh produce and regional specialties. Don’t miss the lively riverside promenade, where you can relax by the Tarn River or stop for a delightful meal in one of its many charming cafes.

Lauzerte, often called “one of the most beautiful villages in France,” will transport you back in time with its perfectly preserved medieval streets, picturesque square, and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Wander through its narrow cobblestone lanes and visit artisan workshops. Admire the charming Pilgrim Garden, highlighting Lauzerte’s role as a stop on the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. For food enthusiasts, Lauzerte offers excellent restaurants where you can sample local delicacies while soaking in the village’s unique atmosphere.

An absolutely delightful experience. Beautiful chateau, clean rooms, amazing hosts.

One of our favourite weeks ever!! We absolutely loved it! We made such happy memories. The pool was glorious and given the weather was so hot when we were there it was invaluable. The beds were very comfy. We loved the outdoor cinema and watched the Euro Finals in there to great effect, as well as a film one night.

A week is too short! If you are looking for a castle/château experience in France, this one is hard to go past. We were 21 people, between 8 and 76, flying in from Sweden and Australia to celebrate a 50th birthday and we loved every minute. Beautiful surrounds with lots to do in the area. Highly recommended!

The place is unreal. Michael the groundskeeper is sound and on hand for anything you might need help with. Pool is ace, pretty bracing temp-wise but in hot weather it'll be ideal. Just a very well maintained and tastefully decorated chateau in a beautiful spot. Hope I get to visit again one day.
