Château de la Couronne

The Crown of Medieval Splendor

Step inside Château de la Couronne and discover interiors that blend medieval grandeur with Renaissance elegance and 18th-century refinement. The château’s great halls still carry the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, with soaring stone walls, arched windows, and hints of its fortress past. Decorative fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, and original stonework give an authentic historic character.

In contrast, the Renaissance and classical refurbishments introduced a softer, more romantic feel: large windows that flood the rooms with light, carved woodwork, wrought-iron details, and sweeping staircases. The salons and reception rooms are designed with a timeless elegance—perfect for gatherings, dinners, and celebrations—while maintaining a sense of warmth and intimacy.

Guest bedrooms feature a mix of antique furnishings, four-poster and canopy beds, vintage textiles, and rustic wooden beams, creating a cozy yet noble atmosphere. The combination of period charm and carefully added modern comforts ensures guests feel both transported to another era and perfectly at home.

The interiors are a true reflection of the château’s layered history: from medieval strength to Renaissance sophistication, and 18th-century grace, each space tells its own story

Cradled in the rolling countryside of Tarn‑et‑Garonne, Château de la Couronne offers more than just historic beauty—it’s your gateway to rich culture, charming villages, and peaceful escapes. The castle itself is a monument: built in the 11th century, enhanced in the Renaissance, and remodelled in the 18th century. Its gardens and ramparts overlook the Garonne Valley, perfect for walks and moments of quiet reflection.

Just 3 km away lies Valence d’Agen, where you can wander through old wash houses and pigeon lofts, explore a vibrant market on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, and enjoy local specialities. A little further, the village of Auvillar sits high above the valley and is beloved for its picturesque views and lively events. For history buffs, Moissac (approximately 20 minutes away) is not to be missed: its Romanesque abbey, cloister, and stunning canal bridge are UNESCO treasures.

For sports and outdoor enthusiasts, Château de la Couronne provides plenty of options. Nearby, the Garonne River offers canoeing, kayaking, and fishing, while hiking and cycling trails weave through the scenic countryside. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate a well-maintained course just 10 minutes away, and seasonal activities, such as horseback riding, ballooning, and vineyard tours, provide additional opportunities to stay active.

In short, Château de la Couronne combines the tranquillity of country life with close access to art, history, outdoor adventure, and delicious regional cuisine—ideal for those who want peace without sacrificing things to see and do.

One of our favourite weeks ever!! We chose Chateau Coty and absolutely loved it!!!! We made such happy memories. The pool was glorious and given the weather was so hot when we were there it was invaluable. The beds were very comfy. We loved the outdoor cinema and watched the Euro Finals in there to great effect, as well as a film one night.

A week is too short! If you are looking for a Castle/Chateaux experience in France, this one is hard to go past. We were 21 people, between 8 and 76, flying in from Sweden and Australia to celebrate a 50th birthday and we loved every minute. One week was too short! Beautiful surrounds with lots to do in the area. Highly recommend Chateaux Coty!

The place is unreal. Michael the groundskeeper is sound and on hand for anything you might need help with. Pool is ace, pretty bracing temp-wise but in hot weather it'll be ideal. Just a very well maintained and tastefully decorated chateau in a beautiful spot. Hope I get to visit again one day
