Château des Contes

Tagline

Set in a beautiful and natural environment, surrounded by four acres of glorious grounds, Château des Contes is a charming retreat ideal for family holidays, reunions with friends, or a romantic wedding in the heart of rural Burgundy.

Steeped in history, the château was initially built in 1900 by the lover of a French actress, lending it a romantic soul that still lingers today. During World War II, it was sold to the Red Cross and served as a hospital for French and British soldiers. In more recent times, it has been lovingly restored into a welcoming holiday home and an elegant venue for special celebrations.

The expansive estate invites you to stroll through landscaped gardens and woodland, enjoy a game of tennis, or relax by the heated swimming pool before gathering for a barbecue. Inside, the interiors combine historic charm with comfort: multiple salons for chatting or unwinding, a home cinema for family movie nights, and a semi-professional kitchen perfect for preparing meals to enjoy by candlelight in the enchanting Orangerie.

The château itself accommodates up to 32 guests across twelve bedrooms on the first and second floors, including family-friendly quad rooms. For larger groups, the renovated Coach House offers three elegant en-suite bedrooms with countryside balconies, as well as two independent apartments. Sleeping an additional 22 guests, it features its own private garden and terrace, making it an excellent option for weddings and big celebrations.

The discreet yet attentive owners live on the estate and are delighted to arrange a daily continental breakfast or deliver fresh croissants and bread each morning. Guests can also choose from their extensive wine list or explore the many renowned wineries nearby.

The château is ideally located for discovering Burgundy’s treasures. Just forty minutes away lies Beaune, the region’s wine capital, with its Michelin-starred restaurants and the famous Route des Grands Crus. Closer to home, the Roman town of Autun offers lively markets and historic monuments. At the same time, nature lovers can immerse themselves in the wild beauty of the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, a paradise for hiking, cycling, and outdoor adventures.

One of our favourite weeks ever!! We chose Chateau Coty and absolutely loved it!!!! We made such happy memories. The pool was glorious and given the weather was so hot when we were there it was invaluable. The beds were very comfy. We loved the outdoor cinema and watched the Euro Finals in there to great effect, as well as a film one night.

A week is too short! If you are looking for a Castle/Chateaux experience in France, this one is hard to go past. We were 21 people, between 8 and 76, flying in from Sweden and Australia to celebrate a 50th birthday and we loved every minute. One week was too short! Beautiful surrounds with lots to do in the area. Highly recommend Chateaux Coty!

The place is unreal. Michael the groundskeeper is sound and on hand for anything you might need help with. Pool is ace, pretty bracing temp-wise but in hot weather it'll be ideal. Just a very well maintained and tastefully decorated chateau in a beautiful spot. Hope I get to visit again one day
